Full HD, co-hosting and a swipeable video feed

TL;DR

LiveShoply now offers Full HD 1080p browser streaming and remote co-hosting in split or picture-in-picture on Growth and Pro, plus a swipeable full-screen video feed and welcome video bubble on every plan.

This update adds three things: Full HD 1080p streaming straight from the browser studio, co-hosting with remote guests in split-screen or picture-in-picture, and a swipeable full-screen video feed with a welcome video bubble for your storefront. Full HD and co-hosting are on Growth and Pro; the feed and bubble are on every plan, including Free.

What's new in this update?

Most of what merchants asked us for over the last few months fell into two buckets. The first was about the live show itself: "can it look sharper?" and "can I bring someone on who isn't in the room?" The second was about everything between shows: "how do I get people to actually watch the videos I've already uploaded?"

The three features in this release answer those questions directly. None of them require a new app download, a new checkout, or changes to your theme code beyond enabling the blocks you want. Shoppers still buy through your own native Shopify checkout, and there is still no commission on sales.

Full HD 1080p from the browser

The browser studio has always been the fastest way to go live: open it on a laptop or phone, allow camera access, pin products and start. Until now, browser streams were capped below Full HD. On Growth and Pro plans, you can now stream in 1080p directly from the browser, without installing OBS or any encoder.

When 1080p is worth it

  • Detail-heavy products. Jewelry, fabric textures, skincare swatches and small print on packaging all benefit from extra resolution.
  • Replays and clips. A sharper source makes a sharper replay, and replays often keep selling long after the show ends.
  • Desktop viewers. On a large screen the difference between 720p and 1080p is easy to see.

How to get a clean 1080p stream

  1. Use a camera that actually outputs 1080p. Most recent phones and a decent USB webcam do; many built-in laptop cameras do not.
  2. Use a wired connection or a strong Wi-Fi signal, and close other uploads on the same network.
  3. Light your face and products from the front. Resolution does not fix a dark scene.
  4. Run a private test show first and watch it back on a phone and a laptop.

If your upload connection is unreliable, a stable lower resolution is better than a stuttering 1080p stream. Our equipment setup guide covers cameras, lighting and audio in more detail.

Co-hosting with remote guests

Growth and Pro plans can now invite a remote guest into a browser studio show. The guest joins remotely from their own browser, and you choose how they appear: side by side in a split layout, or as a smaller picture-in-picture window over your main camera.

Split or picture-in-picture?

  • Split works when both people matter equally: an interview with a designer, a creator partnership, or a two-person styling session.
  • Picture-in-picture works when the product demo is the main shot and the guest is commentary, for example a makeup artist reacting while you swatch shades.

Tips for a smooth co-hosted show

  • Send the guest link a day early and ask them to test camera and microphone.
  • Ask the guest to use headphones so their audio does not echo.
  • Agree in advance who pins products and who reads chat. Usually the merchant keeps control of products, discounts and polls.
  • Plan two or three moments where the guest leads, so it feels like a conversation and not a monologue with a spectator.

Co-hosting is a natural fit for influencer collaborations. Our guide to co-hosting with influencers walks through briefing, splitting responsibilities and tracking results.

The swipeable video feed and welcome bubble

Every plan now includes a swipeable full-screen video feed. Shoppers tap a video on your store and can swipe vertically through your shoppable videos, the same gesture they already use on social apps. Each video keeps its tagged products visible, so adding to cart is one tap away, and checkout is your normal Shopify checkout.

The welcome video bubble is a small round video that sits in the corner of your storefront. It plays muted, and when tapped it opens into the full-screen feed. Use it for a short founder hello, this week's new arrivals, or a teaser for your next live show.

Making the feed worth swiping

  • Keep videos short and vertical. Lead with the product in the first second.
  • Tag one to three products per video, not ten.
  • Mix formats: try-ons, how-to clips, unboxings and replay highlights.
  • Refresh the welcome bubble video every few weeks so returning visitors see something new.

For product-page placement ideas, see shoppable videos on product pages.

Which plan includes what?

  • All plans (Free, Starter, Growth, Pro): swipeable full-screen video feed, welcome video bubble, browser and phone live studio, product pinning, chat, polls, keyword giveaways, live-only discount codes and Insights.
  • Growth ($79/mo) and Pro ($199/mo): Full HD 1080p browser streaming and co-hosting with remote guests, alongside multistreaming OBS shows to Facebook and YouTube, AI captions and AI highlight clips.

The video count on your plan still applies to the feed: 10 videos on Free, 50 on Starter, 200 on Growth and 1,000 on Pro. Watching videos in the feed uses viewer minutes like any other video. See pricing for the full comparison, or how viewer minutes work.

How to get started this week

  1. Upload three to five short vertical videos you already have and tag products.
  2. Turn on the swipeable feed and pick one video for the welcome bubble.
  3. If you are on Growth or Pro, run a private test show in 1080p and check the replay.
  4. Invite a friendly guest, such as a team member, to a test co-hosted show and try both layouts.
  5. Schedule your next public show and use the welcome bubble to announce it.
