Shoppable Replays and the Video Library: Turn Every Live Show Into Product Page Content

How LiveShoply turns live shows into shoppable replays, how to manage your video library, upload or import videos, and add replays and shoppable videos to product pages with theme blocks and the mini-player.

A live show lasts thirty minutes, but its value does not have to end when the stream does. Most people who could buy from your show will never see it live. They are at work, asleep or simply did not know it was happening. Replays let those shoppers watch later, and when replays are shoppable, the show keeps selling for weeks.

This guide explains how LiveShoply creates shoppable replays, how the video library works, and how to place videos on product pages and across your theme.

Everything described here works through Shopify's standard tools: your products and checkout stay in Shopify, and videos are placed with theme app blocks you manage in the theme editor. There is no custom code to maintain, and if you change themes you can add the same blocks again in the new theme. The aim is a simple loop: go live, let the replay appear automatically, place it where shoppers need it, and repeat. Over time, that loop builds a video catalog that covers most of your best-selling products, with each video filmed by the people who know the products best. The sections below cover each step of that loop in order, along with the plan limits that apply and habits that keep your library useful as it grows over months of shows.

Why replays matter

  • They extend reach. Viewers who missed the live show can watch at any time.
  • They add content to product pages. A demo of a product, filmed during a show, answers questions that photos cannot.
  • They require no extra filming. You already did the work during the live show.
  • They compound. Every show adds to a growing library of shoppable content.

How replays become shoppable

When a show ends, LiveShoply creates a replay from the recording. How the recording is made depends on how you broadcast:

  • RTMP (OBS) shows are recorded automatically in the cloud. Nothing else is needed.
  • Browser studio shows are recorded locally by your browser and uploaded when you end the show. Keep the studio open until the upload completes. See our browser studio guide.
  • Premieres already have a video file, which becomes the replay once the premiere ends.

The products attached to the show stay attached to the replay. Viewers who watch it see the products under the video and can choose variants and add to cart, just as they could during the live show.

The video library

The video library in the LiveShoply admin is where all your videos live: replays from past shows, uploaded videos and imported clips. From the library you can:

  • Preview videos and edit titles and descriptions.
  • Attach or remove products.
  • Choose which videos are published as shoppable videos on your storefront.
  • Remove videos you no longer want to show.

Think of the library as your store's video catalog. Keeping titles clear and products accurate makes it much easier to place the right video on the right page later.

Uploading and importing videos

Not every video has to come from a live show. You can add videos to the library in two ways:

  1. Upload a video file from your computer, such as a product demo, a tutorial or an unboxing.
  2. Import by link by pasting a URL to a video file, which LiveShoply fetches and processes.

Short vertical videos you have already made for social media are good candidates. Our guide to turning Instagram Reels into shoppable videos covers this workflow. On the Growth plan and above, AI-suggested highlight clips from replays can also be saved as shoppable videos; see AI captions and highlight clips.

Attaching videos to products

Each video can be linked to one or more products. This link does two things: the products appear as shoppable items when the video plays, and the video can appear automatically on those products' pages through theme blocks.

For a long replay featuring ten products, it often makes sense to also create shorter clips focused on single products. A two-minute clip about one jacket is more useful on that jacket's product page than a thirty-minute show.

Adding videos to your theme with blocks

LiveShoply uses a Shopify theme app extension, which means you add videos to your store through the theme editor without editing code. After enabling the LiveShoply app embed, open the theme editor and add any of these blocks:

  • Live replays block shows past shows as a row of replay cards. It works well on the homepage or a dedicated "Watch" page.
  • Shoppable videos block displays videos linked to products. On a product page template, it automatically shows videos attached to the product being viewed.
  • Playlist block shows a curated set of videos, useful for collections, campaigns or tutorials.

Because these are standard theme blocks, you can position them anywhere a section is allowed, move them up or down, and adjust settings in the theme editor. Your storefront live page at /apps/live also lists upcoming shows and replays automatically. For more placement ideas, read shoppable videos on product pages.

Tip: on product pages, place the shoppable videos block near the product images or just below the add to cart button. Shoppers looking for more detail tend to look there first.

The mini-player

The mini-player is a small floating player that keeps a live show or video playing while the viewer browses your store. When a shopper taps a product during a show or navigates to another page, the video shrinks into a corner instead of stopping. They can expand it again at any time or close it.

This matters because the moment someone wants to check a product's details is exactly when they are most interested. The mini-player lets them do that without losing the show. It is enabled through the app embed and works across your theme.

Shoppable video limits by plan

The number of shoppable videos you can publish depends on your plan:

  • Free: 10 shoppable videos
  • Starter: 50 shoppable videos
  • Growth: 200 shoppable videos
  • Pro: 1,000 shoppable videos

Watching replays and shoppable videos counts toward your monthly viewer minutes. Our guide to understanding viewer-minute pricing explains how this works, and the pricing page has the full comparison.

Frequently asked questions

Do replays count toward viewer minutes? Yes. Watching replays and shoppable videos counts toward your monthly viewer minutes, the same as watching a live show.

What if my browser show replay did not upload? Browser shows are recorded locally and uploaded after you end the show. If you closed the studio or lost connection too early, the upload may not have completed. Keep the studio open until the upload finishes in future, and contact support via the in-app Help page if a replay is missing.

Can I hide a replay without deleting it? You can unpublish videos you do not want to show on your storefront while keeping them in the library. This is useful for seasonal content you plan to use again.

Will videos slow down my product pages? The theme blocks are delivered through Shopify's theme app extension and load the player when needed. As with any media, avoid stacking many video blocks on the same page.

Can I use the same video on several products? Yes. A single video can be attached to multiple products, and it will appear on each of their product pages through the shoppable videos block.

Do I need to edit my theme code? No. All placements use theme app blocks and the app embed, which you manage in the Shopify theme editor without touching code.

Best practices for replay content

  • Rename replays. "Live show October 12" means nothing to a shopper. "How to layer knitwear for autumn" does.
  • Check product links. Remove products that are sold out or discontinued so replays do not lead to dead ends.
  • Avoid time-sensitive language in clips. A clip mentioning a code that expired last week can confuse shoppers. Trim those parts or use clips without them.
  • Add captions. Many people watch without sound. On the Growth plan and above, AI captions help here.
  • Review performance. The Insights page shows orders attributed to shows, helping you see which content drives sales.

Replays are where a live shopping program starts to pay for itself over time. See all video features on the features page, and contact us through live chat on the in-app Help page if you need help placing blocks in your theme.
